Developed Floorplan

We provide our clients with a basic list of items which may be changed to provide a resolution to the existing problems. In this particular case, the key lay in the removal of the kitchen wall adjoining the living space and considerably shortening the journey to the external space.

Concept Viewing

Concept Viewing initially looked at the problem with the aim of providing different solutions. There is a case for removing the kitchen window and replacing this with doors providing direct access onto the deck from the kitchen. The image shows doors from kitchen and living space which would provide excellent circulatory flow, but would increase the budget.

Heat and Light

The extension lies almost directly East to West, providing a perfect positioning to address the sun. Roof lights could be inserted at desired intervals to provide additional light into the kitchen. The possibility would also exist to provide easily serviceable solar panels.

Developed View

The rear of the house is now one large flowing space with access to the garden from both kitchen and dining areas, ideal for summer get together's. The original living room has a cosier feel with the large picture window, the newly added window seat compliments the original porch area. The social space is linked to the new studio space via a glass walkway, which also helps bring light into the kitchen.
